Deputy President Kithure Kindiki has dismissed leaders in the united opposition as ineffective and lacking a development record, urging residents of Meru County to back President William Ruto for a second term.
Speaking in Makutano, North Imenti Constituency, Kindiki contrasted the Kenya Kwanza administration with opposition leaders, saying the difference is “like day and night.” He accused his rivals of making “unnecessary noise” instead of focusing on development.
“The difference between us and the opposition leaders is like day and night. They are here making unnecessary noise, insulting and disturbing the people of Meru,” Kindiki said.
The Deputy President specifically criticized former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua and Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka, who have been touring Meru over the past three days, claiming they failed to deliver projects during their time in government.
“When they were in government they never lobbied or championed a single project for this region,” he said.
“When you were Deputy President, you fought the President instead of working for the people, the reason you were impeached. You are a failure.”
Kindiki highlighted his extensive political experience, including roles as two-term Senator, Senate Speaker, Cabinet Secretary for Interior, and now Deputy President, as preparation for serving the country effectively.
“I have experience being a Senator for two terms, Speaker, Interior Cabinet Secretary and now Deputy President. You were just a one-term MP and then Deputy President but you failed terribly in your roles,” he added.
He also warned Gachagua against what he described as persistent political attacks.
“I will deal with you, I will square it out with you,” Kindiki said.
Kindiki dismissed opposition hopes of winning the presidency, asserting that the Kenya Kwanza administration has a clear development agenda. He urged residents to support Ruto’s re-election to allow ongoing development programs to continue and indicated his intention to run for the presidency after Ruto’s two terms.
