Investigations have intensified at Makaburini Cemetery in Kericho following disturbing discoveries of missing bodies and serious irregularities in mortuary practices.
A multi-agency team led by Director of Criminal Investigations Mohamed Amin visited the site, where preliminary findings revealed major discrepancies between court-authorised burials and the actual number of remains recovered.
Court records indicate that only 13 unclaimed bodies from Nyamira Teaching and Referral Hospital were cleared for disposal on March 17, 2026. However, investigators say the number of bodies and body parts exhumed far exceeds that figure raising concerns over possible concealment and breaches of legal procedures.
