Christmas Day has dawned with renewed energy in Mombasa as families, holidaymakers and visitors stream into beaches, public parks and social spots to mark one of the most celebrated days of the year.
To manage the surge in public activity, the county government has rolled out enhanced safety measures. County Executive Committee Member for Transport, Infrastructure and Public Works, Dan Manyala, said the preparations are aimed at ensuring a safe and orderly festive season.
“As usual, Mombasa is receiving high number of visitors during this festive season, that’s why we’ve put in place key measures to ensure safety for everyone.” Manyala said.
Security teams drawn from multiple agencies have been deployed across neighbourhoods and along the coastline, areas that traditionally attract large crowds during the holidays.
“We’ll have multi-agency security patrols at all times so as to ensure all public places, including beaches are safe.” Manyala said.

The county has also strengthened medical preparedness, positioning emergency response teams near major recreational areas.
“We have placed Red Cross tents and 11 ambulances on standby across all recreational points in the county to respond to any medical emergency.” He noted.
Residents and visitors have been urged to observe safety guidelines, particularly when swimming, and to remain within recommended hours of 6:00am to 6:00pm.
CECM Manyala called on the public to celebrate responsibly, cooperate with officers on duty and promptly report emergencies, noting that safety during the festive season is a shared responsibility.
