Makueni Woman Representative Rose Museo has called for immediate government intervention to stop the alarming rise in femicide and gender-based violence cases across the country.
Speaking in Kibwezi during a sanitary towel distribution exercise at Muatini Comprehensive School, Museo demanded the urgent implementation of anti-femicide recommendations and fast-tracking of investigations into the murder of gospel artist Rachael Wandeto.
The lawmaker accused institutions of failing women and children, warning that the continued disappearances and killings of women have created fear and anger across communities.
Education leaders and administrators also raised concern over school dropout rates among girls, while local administrators launched a crackdown on families violating the government’s 100 percent school transition policy.
