President Ruto’s aide Farouk Kibet has called on the clergy to pray for an end to the war between the United States of America and Iran as it has brought a lot of suffering to nations that are not part of the war. Speaking during a fundraiser at St Martin’s Bandarasalama catholic church in Chonyi Sub County, Kilifi County, Kibet said that the war was the cause of the sharp rise in fuel prices that has seen the Kenyans pay heavily to access fuel. “I am calling on the clergy to pray for the nation and also pray for the US and Iran to stop the war because it is that war that has brought this fuel issue this far. Once the war is over, the price of fuel will go down,” he said. He was accompanied by Mining and Blue Economy Cabinet Secretary Hassan Joho, ODM Deputy party leader and Mombasa governor Abdulswamad Nassir, his Kilifi counterpart Gideon Mung’aro, Kilifi Senator Stewart Madzayo, Kericho senator Aron Cheruiyot, Women Representative Getrude Mbeyu, Kilifi South MP Ken Chonga, his colleagues Kenneth Kazungu of Ganze and Wundanyi MP John where he also rallied residents to support President Ruto’s agenda. At the same time, Joho said that he will rally ODM and coastal voters to reelect president Ruto in 2027 with the hope that the Kalenjin nation will support an ODM presidential candidate in 2032. “We are supporting president Ruto today and tomorrow and I pray that he gives us the same support in 2032 when he will be leaving government because we are capable of leading this nation and I want to tell Cheruiyot that he should mobilize his community for that journey the way we are mobilizing our community for 2027,” he said. Mung’aro said that in 2032 the coastal region must produce a presidential candidate and he challenged Joho to come out clearly on his presidential ambitions or he will present himself for the position. “The coastal region will continue working with president Ruto until 2032 and after that Joho is the one we are fronting and he fails to stand up, I will avail myself for the presidential race,” he said. Cheruiyot said that some people hate Ruto because he has taken development to once marginalized areas calling out on former deputy president Rigathi Gachagua to stop tribal politics. “We sent him away from the government because he was a tribalist and wanted development taken only to the Mt Kenya region,” he said. He added that the Kalenjin nation will reciprocate if the coastal people reelect Ruto in 2027 arguing that Joho was fit to succeed Ruto in 2032. “I have seen Joho and he is very capable of leading this country in future, we will give you the support if you give us the support in 2027,” he said. Other leaders who spoke called for peace in the country and urged Kenyans to be aware of opposition leaders who were inciting them against development.
