“NOT IN NANYUKI!” RESIDENTS REJECT PROPOSED EBOLA FACILITY

Thousands of Demonstrators thronged the streets of Nanyuki and walked to the Laikipia Airbase to protest against the intended establishment of an Ebola quarantine Centre for US citizens.
Carrying flags and singing the National Anthem the protesters were held by the military just before the main gate who blocked them from accessing the base.
They maintained that they will not allow the establishment of the facility noting that the demonstrations will go on until their cry is heard.
Marlin Ndegwa a resident said that the agreement between Kenyan Government and USA to have the centre established in Nanyuki was reached without public participation questioning why it could not be done in the affected countries.
