PS Mary Muthoni Condemns Rising Violence Against Children

At a time when many Kenyan parents are living with the fear of children going missing or becoming victims of violence, Ps Mary used the pulpit at the Diocesan Education Day at St. Thomas Cathedral Kerugoya to speak directly to the anxieties weighing heavily on families.

Addressing congregants, she said the world children are growing up in today is different, and society can no longer rely on outdated parenting approaches while dangers continue to evolve.

Using a simple but relatable analogy, Ps Mary compared parenting to smartphone technology, saying just as phones need software updates to function properly, parents and communities must also “update” how they guide and protect children.

Quoting Romans 12, she challenged parents to embrace change, including accepting the Competency Based Curriculum (CBC), instead of resisting new systems shaping children’s future.
