Eid for peace! – Mombasa Muslims Mark Eid al-Adha With Calls for Peace and Unity

Hundreds of Muslim faithful in Mombasa joined millions around the world in marking Eid al-Adha, one of the most significant Islamic festivals, with special prayers held across mosques and open grounds in the county.

At Ronald Ngala Primary School grounds in Mvita Sub-County, Mombasa Governor Abdulswamad Nassir joined worshippers for Eid prayers, where he urged political leaders to avoid hate speech and divisive rhetoric ahead of the 2027 General Election.

Religious leaders, including former Kenya Mufti Sheikh Omar Buya, emphasized the importance of generosity, unity, and prayer for peace, calling on Kenyans of all faiths to support the vulnerable and promote national cohesion.

Concerns were also raised over alleged youth gangs linked to political interests, with leaders warning against violence and intimidation in politics.

The celebrations highlighted strong calls for peace, unity, and responsible leadership as Kenya heads toward an election cycle.
