Migori County Muslim cleric Omar Hussein Mohammed has urged the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leadership to urgently address internal divisions ahead of the 2027 General Election, warning that continued infighting could weaken the party’s political influence.
Speaking during Eid celebrations at Al Islaamiyya Mosque in Migori County, the cleric called for unity within ODM, noting that the death of party leader Raila Odinga should not trigger disunity but instead serve as a moment for reconciliation and strengthening the party.
He criticized the sidelining of key figures within the party and urged the current leadership under Dr. Oburu Odinga to focus on rebuilding cohesion and restoring public confidence.
Omar also cautioned against public attacks on the Odinga family, describing Raila Odinga as a symbol of democracy who should be respected even in death.
He further called on politicians to avoid inflammatory rhetoric and urged Kenyans to remain calm amid concerns over the ongoing fuel crisis, describing it as a global challenge.
