The Communications Authority of Kenya (CA) has assured Kenyans that it has no plans to shut down any media house as the country prepares for next year’s General Election, even as it intensifies efforts to curb the spread of hate speech across media platforms. Speaking in Mbeere North during the donation of computers to Kanyuambora Senior School and Karangare Senior School, Communications Authority Director Ngari Makindu said the regulator is working closely with media houses to ensure election coverage remains professional, responsible and in line with the Constitution. Makindu emphasized that the Authority’s mandate is to regulate the communications sector within the law and safeguard public interest, noting that all its systems remain fully operational to monitor compliance with constitutional and legal requirements.
