Kenya Tightens Ebola Surveillance at Border

Kenya remains on high alert following renewed Ebola outbreaks in neighbouring Uganda and the Democratic Republic of Congo.

Speaking during an economic forum in Matayos, Busia Deputy Governor and County Executive Committee Member for Health Arthur Odera assured residents that the government is working to prevent any possible spread of the deadly virus into Kenya.

However, residents and traders at the Busia One Stop Border Post say there are still major gaps in the current screening system and are demanding stricter checks at all border entry points.

Health officials say surveillance and monitoring efforts have been intensified as fears grow over the regional Ebola situation.
