Acid Attack Horror: Embu Leaders Demand Arrests as Jackline is Laid to Rest

A sombre mood engulfed Ngeca Village in Makima, Mbeere South, as family, friends, leaders, and residents gathered to bury Jackline Wanjiru, the woman who died after unknown assailants allegedly poured sulphuric acid on her while she was heading to work on a motorcycle.

The emotional burial ceremony turned into a powerful call for justice, with leaders condemning the rising cases of femicide and gender-based violence in Embu County and across Kenya.

Former Embu Deputy Governor Dorothy Nditi termed the attack inhumane and demanded swift investigations and arrests, while Makima MCA Philip Nzangi issued a seven-day ultimatum to security agencies to provide progress on the case or face public demonstrations.

Residents left the graveside demanding justice for Jackline and urgent action to protect women and girls from increasing violence.
