THOUSANDS FACE EVICTION AS FARMERS CLASH WITH KFS OVER LAND

Hundreds of farmers from Ewaso Narok and Nyahururu Settlement Schemes have staged protests against an ongoing fencing project by the Kenya Forest Service (KFS) around Marmanet Forest, claiming the exercise is encroaching on land legally allocated to them by the government decades ago.

The residents say they have occupied and farmed the land for more than 25 years and were issued with title deeds in 2000. They argue that the disputed area supports thousands of families who depend on farming and livestock keeping for their livelihoods.

The demonstrators are now calling on President William Ruto and relevant government agencies to intervene and halt the fencing exercise, warning that thousands of residents risk displacement if the project proceeds.
