UDA Intensifies Membership Registration Campaign in Busia County

United Democratic Alliance-UDA leaders in Busia County have embarked on a vigorous grassroots recruitment drive aimed at strengthening the party ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The initiative seeks to expand membership and consolidate support across the county, with leaders urging unity among all stakeholders to ensure the ruling party maintains its influence in the region.

The campaign is being positioned as a critical step ahead of 2027 polls defending the president’s second term bid.

Speaking in Amagoro, Teso North, and later in Nambale constituency after meeting party delegates, UDA Busia chairperson Mourice Chetambe emphasized that the party will not be confined by zoning arrangements.

He declared that UDA intends to field candidates across all six elective positions in the county, signaling a bold strategy to challenge traditional political alignments.

Dr. Isaack Alukwe echoed these sentiments, stressing that the ongoing registration exercise is vital for consolidating the party’s base.

He pointed to the government’s development projects in Busia including infrastructure upgrades, affordable housing initiatives, and the establishment of an industrial park in Nasewa as tangible evidence of UDA’s commitment to improving livelihoods in the border county.

According to Alukwe, these achievements should motivate residents to embrace the party and secure its future dominance.

Chetambe further used the platform to call on Busia leaders to set aside differences and fully support the recruitment drive.

His appeal highlighted the importance of collective action in building a strong and united party capable of delivering on its promises.
